Today I came across this status message on my friend's messenger avatar, " kenapa manusia tak boleh nak ikhlas?" (why can't people be sincere?) so the same question drilled my head and knocked my conscience, why can't (most) people nowadays be sincere in anything? pro bono is no longer a valid practice. TV3 BersamaMu is half assed. things of that sort.
We have always been taught by the society (most of us) to gain something according to our deeds. let it be good or bad, we will reap what we sow. no longer do we believe in the virtue of sincerity, since every little thing that we do, we expect that there must be something in it for us.
I guess all of this might not be true since every now and then we see hear and commit ourselves in sincere deeds, just that maybe now being 'sincere' itself - has different levels. we may do things truely honest-to-God sincerely, or maybe we faintly hope that something good might happen to us if we do this or that, or we definitely need to get paid! xD
Whatever it is, I myself still believe in being sincere. Doing something good almost always gets back to you sooner or later. same thing goes if you do something bad. haha. karma or whatever, you get the idea. =p
