Episode 20: Capturing The Moment

Like many other people, I am one of those occasional snappers who happen to bring along their cameras to the family dinner, picnics with classmates, and their best friend's birthday parties. if not for those reasons, it's actually quite hard to find me holding on to a camera going around taking pictures of every sort. well, I think part of this is attributed to my personality itself.

Being a (serious) photographer means you have to spend most of the time behind the camera, and not being in it. Every moment captured relinquishes the memory of others, not you. The only enjoyment you get from this only comes when your picture is hung on the wall, or when it is neatly placed nicely inside the family album and enjoyed.

My being quite introverted usually restrains myself from getting pictures from the people around me especially if they are strangers. being friendly and outgoing is one the required trait of a photographer, especially if you tend to photograph people alot. I kept thinking of the response of the subject if suddenly I come up to him/her asking to take a photo. this is Russia anyhow. I personally don't like Russians. xD

And something I learned some time ago is that, a good photographer not only has the know-how of photography, but essentially he takes a WHOLE LOT of them. (1 outing = +/-800 photos) you just cannot get it perfect in a single shot. lucky enough, every now and then you'll be blessed with the perfect composition. naturally, it's the essence of capturing the moment.

Cheers~
